What kind of events can I have at the War Memorial?
The War Memorial is available for a wide range of events including conferences, trade shows, seminars, large meetings, training, group interviews, public forums, arts and culture events, etc. Currently, certain events—such as weddings and political rallies—are not permitted. Please contact us by e-mail here if you have any questions.
How many people can you accommodate?
The Assembly Hall on the first floor can hold 150-200 people, depending on room configuration; the Memorial Hall on the second floor can hold up to 1,100 people.
What are the hours of the War Memorial?
The War Memorial is open to the general public every weekday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The building may be reserved for events on evenings and weekends.
How much does it cost to book at the War Memorial?
Government agencies, elected officials, and patriotic organizations may use the building during regular business hours at no cost. Rental rates for other organizations and individuals will vary depending on the size, nature, and duration of the event. Please contact us for a rental fee quote.
Where can I park?
There is a municipal garage (510 East Lexington Street) located across the Lexington Street entrance to the building, open during weekdays only. For evening and weekend events, parking is available across the War Memorial Plaza at the Baltimore Street garage (15 Guilford Avenue) for a flat $7.00 fee. Limited street parking is available in the surrounding area.
What equipment is available for rental?
The War Memorial offers tables, chairs, a projector, a P.A. system, WiFi, and presentation screens. Laptops and extension cords are not available and must be supplied by the renter.
Are kitchen facilities available?
No. Limited refrigeration is available on request. Food is only allowed on the first floor of the building
Where can I load/unload equipment?
You may bring in equipment through the Lexington Street entrance and temporarily leave vehicles in front of this entrance while doing so.
Is WiFi available?
Yes. You can be provided with a password to access the WiFi after your reservation is finalized.
May I have my event catered? Is alcohol permitted?
Events held in the Assembly Hall may be catered as long as the caterer is licensed. Beer and wine are permitted in the Assembly Hall so long as ONE of these conditions apply: 1. The renter has obtained a one-day liquor license from the Baltimore City Liquor Board. OR 2. The event is being catered and the caterer possesses a current liquor license.
Can I rent the venue for political events or rallies?
The War Memorial Commission does not permit events that endorse a specific candidate running for public office or a political party as of December 2014. Political events that are open to all candidates, such as a debate, are permitted. Please contact us for a rental fee quote and additional clarifying information.
